Ping Pong Green

Sunny

Doubles/mixed doubles, that is the way to go for ping pong. Hence green melon and strawberry, here we come!

Ping Pong Pan (SGD 1.30 for 1)

There were also archery(like bowling, you should know;) kayaking, (our canoe/sailing, in SIN); and ping pong aside, that is about the waves you get for Singapore(in the Youth or Olympics.) A sidenote is like illustrious Olympics; giving light to the Athens, and the magical number 1896, 1900 Greece, Paris, Moscow and Berlin thereafter, how would the World react to reading Youth Olympics decades later: Singapore, 2010- what an asian, unsung, obscured country?(?)

Activity aside, the pan(pun- the japanese the an pan) in english it is green melon, in mandarin it is green tea(?)! Well the honeydew-green gave way to light tea leaves, and sugary sorghum-kiwi or yubari or watermelon whatever,(as long as it is green in colour). The playing ball and bat were fluffy white bread, and do note that an extra mile is taken to construct the blade of the paddle- in rinds separating from the rest of the bread! If you play the game you can tell.

Colour bread; like manual skill or 'guinness world record' food, how many people will eat and buy this? That is why there is still a % contemning BreadTalk; 面包物语, what for? Give me a sausage roll and/or toast anytime.

P.S. It has been an agelong trick; only SAP schools offering ping pong ECA. 'English' schools have ECA for tennis, no table tennis.

Rainbow Biscuit

Cloudy

and here; here,
Flower Biscuits (SGD 1.20)

so popular. A referee, as though it is rainbow itself. Finally, free from liberation, I come in orange also! There was an aroma of tinned cans and baking soda in full sight of these bakelite beauties. With just a white flour-leavened cake and dollop of icing sugar; admiration on our ancestor's simplicity and steadfastness. Confectionery so complete from any sense; no-frills butter and cream, custard, nuts or cookie. Flower Biscuit seemed to represent them all.

P.S. It is just 5 colours. Pink(and/or orange), yellow, green and white. When we were younger, everything seemed much bigger; busier, cooler, or 'having more colours' than reality.

Green Egg

1o Aug, 2010

Stories overheard all over Singapore. Let's say its like this. With the encroachment of franchises and modernities, yet a slip of an old-school shop remains. Mama shop- garlands, sun-dried bulbs, gunny sacks and egg cartons. Amidst the heavy spicy scents, eggs are sat like chequerboards. Pale blue/green, white, pale blue/green, white. Breath-taking.

Some of them were picked home. Difficulty in engaging with the shopkeeper- how do I buy the eggs/they are sold for/which one is chicken/duck/why is it green. (Just put them in hot water for eating/they are cooked already.)

Egg (SGD 0.60 per egg)

Extremely salty, even if you sandwich them between plain white bread. No planta needed.

P.S. We have been selling green eggs all along and now you come and ask me why it is green.

green 白面包

Sunny

White Bread (SGD 1.30)

Fall in love with white bread again. Imagine rose with pandan; or essence of bundung. Ice kachang with colour syrup.

P.S. Such kopitiam bread is again; different from the paisley stripes reminiscent of chocolate/strawberry flavoured 'peanut butter' mantou buns.

Fire Works

Sunny

45 years and counting, (just like 234 for the United States or 60 for China); we would still scream at fire in the sky once every year during our livespans. [Just in case we do not live for more than the hundred years.]

Red in the leaderboard and all you need for rainbow. (Just like any bright nebula for a star) (5 spokes and 10 points).

Turquoise.

And our green, of course.

P.S. Unless we have a hand-held monitor or near the vicinities, we should try not to be out-of-doors during 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

Green Hokkaido Cupcake

5 Aug, 2010

Bread of Life Bakery gave life to our icing flower biscuit gems. Or Hokkaido, you could say, in its similar piped icing sugar frost. Just that they are giant mousses coming in pink for strawberry, yellow lemon, light-brown chocolate and green green tea.

Green Tea Hokkaido Cupcake (SGD 2.00)

We know Hokkaido ice cream's the milk. What about Hokkaido cupcake? Light; chiffon the Asian way we like our cake, breads and sponges. 'Chiffon cake' in a cup, not muffin or cupcake the english way. And because its Hokkaido, one can rests its laurels on light-tasting scented chiffon, and fresh, zesty mousse even if its green tea!

P.S. Though the lemon was also a balmy breeze. And to kill all curiosities on the Hokkaido Cupcake, there is more mousse inside, green like the outside in same giant icing sugar shape!

Rainbow

Cloudy

It wasn't raining or sunny.

Kindergarten kids: let's look clearly now. It is a red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and indigo in a rainbow.
And I remember the oath, to stop at rainbow when I finally see a rainbow.

P.S. Yeah, I remember.
