Green Lapis

2 June, 2010

We have heard of kueh lapis. But kueh lapis cake? (Error in grammar and logic here), kuehs are supposed to be bite-sized and steamed- goodies rather than baked. This is a loaf of cake. Kuehs also meant pastry or cake already. Its other variant is the prune lapis, still brown; and nothing like this one.

Pandan Kueh Lapis (SGD 4.25)

The 2 thousand layer- pandan and rich butter cake.
It is exceptionally precious because the lapis cake comes only in 2 flavours; not 10, like ang ku kuh; not 1, like tu tu kueh(any flavour it's all white.) So now we are focusing on the one and only other, kueh lapis green.

Our fruit cake for christmas because it is as dense; not a copycat because it is not Vanillin, Chocolate or Strawberry, 100% original because it is pandan, the way the handicraft inspired us like the way kirsch did, to blackforest (cake).

P.S. Green and brown alternating bringing out the essence of 'lapis' in lapis cake. Which reminds me of the way I ate cheese slices, folding it into one-eights and biting through a yellow lapis from cross-section.
