O(h!)banyaki- its green (tea) around the gills

Sunny

Obanyaki, taiyaki, dorayaki. In the sea of (sweets) pancakes, it is not that daunting. Obanyaki for the oval, Polly Pocket; vintage box bag-kind, taiyaki for the fronds of the sea, fish-shaped or fish-molded, dorayaki in the likeness of the Doraemon, doe-like in a soft-undulating shape.

Nowadays with the territorializing of the green tea, infiltrating water to the tolerable sight of green loaves, green bread and green cake, the obanyaki must not lose its fight in the race. Henceforth in the widespread nostalgic shape of the mee chiam kueh, finally, the use of matcha powder is also uniting with the genesis of the yaki, where matcha first spilled forth from to the rest of the world.

Pancake Redbean with Greentea flavor (SGD 1.80)

Mr.Obanyaki here executing the trick. A good ringing-a-bell with The Taiyaki, both artisanal speciality shops boosting original Japanese methods, located here in Singapore. Voluminous and well-baked, everyone.

The staff adroitly flipping batters of leaf-green. It is an uplifting sight. Be it its cut, compact form or the well of bubbling lava, it is a symbolism of bountifulness and wholeness.

P.S. Congruent with its sturdy appearance, the clam-shape is indeed trusty. Hard-grilled and crispy on the outside, it reminds one of the "eggnog"; chewy to a pearl inside, calming with the infusion of green tea, a different type of tasty. The red bean paste is also interspersed with red bean husks, edging one closer to knowing an Obanyaki.

Cosy to a "T"-Tea Cosy

Sunny

Striking as a robin egg's blue as its logo, dreams like this do come true, when you find out what you see in your mug.

Tea Cosy has snuggled in the corner far as history goes with Plaza Singapura, shoulder to shoulder with Spotlight, spinning a picturesque image of homeliness and warmth.

Chocolate Minty Coffee (SGD 6.95)

What mother would approve of. By its gentile, meek title, it is actually no less deviled than the stratified cocktail layers of an alcohol beverage. Look at the white foam, brown washes and the brilliant green body. The froth is a layer of steamed milk breaking the liquid composition, the brown acidic of caffe latte, laid with a foundation of sharp, sweet mint syrup. The green serves as a visual surprise to the intensity of the mintness of the drink, when stirred evenly. Yet the shattering factor of the cuppa is, yes, that sombre brown at the bottom of the mug, a silver will do but so heavily-bodied- almost like 'tiramisu' in a Tiramisu McFlurry.

P.S. The ambiguity of the green the phenomenon of such colour to be- heightens the sublimity of drink/Tea Cosy, coffee/alcohol, winter/peppermint, vacation/reality.

Moping it over- Strawberry Mantou from Crystal Jade My Bread

Night

Baking can also be accredited to the Chinese, Mexican, Hawaiian, as claimed by Crystal Jade resulting in a motley of crosses and hybrids which one might not have seen before.

Strawberry Mantou (SGD 1.30 for 4)

Is it a miracle or what? Mantou (chinese steamed buns) white, pink, white, pink like on a trial run, depicted in its to-be-frozen packages. The swirl or knotted mantou completely taking it over, until it is just doused in pink. The utopia of a strawberry mantou, where it is no longer just swirl, strawberry-laced in your dimsum, tea, peanut butter or crab gravy; there is an additional light-tasing ichigo flavour to wherever the mantou goes.

P.S. They were already like that back then. [One should have known (it) better]. Even before there was sakura.

Hard-boiled {egged}- Kaya madeleine @ Delifrance

Night

Up for grabs. Original, chocolate almond or kaya. One has never envisioned the befalling of this day, where madeleines (even) has to be stamped out of its buttery, pound form. Madeleine or mufflines (?); identity crisis where flavour can no longer indicate what pastry it is.

One has just adored, madeleines. Ever since been introduced to tea time. The plain, honest, good. From the range at Delifrance's fare. One do not need any thrills and spills.

Madeleines (SGD 3.80 6 pcs)

In touch with the local, bringing back gulden times. Delifrance bending with Singaporean kaya in its breakfast, and a twist to the old-fashioned madeleines. What one love of these pretty scalloped shapes, now dipped in a luscious chocolate or pandan green. Still buttery and moist as ever, it overturns the definition of a madeleine, breaking open the kaya sponge to runny, mellow kaya jam inside, filled like linzer cookie or molten cake.

P.S. Reverie of the plain. One also admits this idiosyncrasy towards hards breads, muffins, piglet mooncake, ma lai gao, kueh bahulu.

No longer from the dispenser- a Dew deal

Drizzling

It is fluorescent. And opaque. How does the two even mix.

Honey Dew (SGD 0.70)

Dazzling with the furnishing. It is not that a bleak place after all.

P.S. Not everyday they are like this. Muted browns, pinks, oranges, like chatoyance candy. Usually swooshing in their canisters. It is really honey dew juice. More of like juice of a chewy sweet. With sorghum honey.

Love your =) even more- McDonald's Real Fruit Smoothie

April 2012

When it was apple (dippers), one couldn't quite accept it. And now it is the itsy bitsy fruit of the berry. We no longer chug our mugs with paper rolled with streamers of red, navy and yellow in our sets, but now down in transparent canisters filled with opaque liquid in the midst of our trays.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie (SGD 3.45) (Small)

The McCafe. Presenting a small slice of heaven to us, when we wake up hit in the face that we have become too old for Mcdonald's {or not}. This pink amongst the so many adult-chocolate varieties reminds us such thing as concessions.

P.S. Like some birthchild of a prominent figure, is it real or not, what is inside the beverage, how much sugar added, poring and prying into every worth of the berries in the blend because it hails from a big name, which commonly does not deal with beverages, accessing its every move because there is an implication with its name. The smoothie is not a sweet-covered lattice, attesting to strawberries (natural) (zing), justifiably fine for the ice crystals with some strawberry/banana seeds.
