Eat Japanese and Chinese- Black Popiah

Night

After insistence on the standard, original, traditional, it has also delved into the wild track of the novel. The Chomp Chomp popiah or more correctly I-Chai Food Speciality has fillings, sauce lace or wrappings that are edible and now found on what is still called a popiah/kueh pie ti.


Sushi Popiah (SGD 3.00)

In terms of taste and texture, it feels like eating the japanese creation, the savoury aroma of the seaweed skin encompassing the dish with the breath of sea, dealt between layers of crisp and dry. It juxtaposes with the 2nd skin inside, the fragrant flour popiah skin, something different yet familiar. Overall, in one big gulp, it is juicy and sauce sweet, the fillings flavourful giving a sense of abundance. Look, there is egg scrambles, steamed turnip in sauce, small carrots, bean sprouts, lettuce, fried shallots and the sauce. The whole-set traditional.


One in black and one in white. The popiah zen, giving it a contemporary, wanting-to-be-prominent feel. Just that one never thought that black could be japanese.

P.S. At Chomp Chomp, you can also get transparent popiah (rice paper), (inner)green kueh pie ti (wasabi sauce), and chicken floss, Japanese octopus kueh pie tee, inner yellow popiah (cheese).

A sampling portion for the flavours, first?
It tastes of fruit milk ice-cream, and later the stinging nettles a sensory perception, not taste reception. Sizzling ice cream to stop your cold. As it gets milder to the middle, there are globs of lime to chew on, like those of korean citron (yuzu) tea.

P.S. Chocolate is the most (left), pink guava and horlicks are the most cleaned up.

Remembering the very first rainbow, it was to capture the shimmery, ditsy and iridescent, where the motley of it all gives that unspeakable rush of excitement- its rainbow.



The same happened with viewing this, just that now it is no longer something off from the supermarket shelf, and hands are pressed against the glass of the window to get a look closer.


Looking like the ice kachang of the place, not even ice kachang (with green) is as rainbow as this.

P.S. The joy of arguing something to the point of rainbow. Red, blue and yellow. Without their existence there wouldn't be the rest of the colours. Look between them|where they intersect each other and you will see everything {all the colours} you need.

The two potent powder powers together, black sesame(powder) and green tea (matcha) powder, you get a boosting striated streaky mix.

The lighting is warm and beckoning. Like how paper is unable to wrap up a fire, the inherent nature of things will emerge through; the aura of how an area is like will also be replicated in your pictures.

P.S. Starbucks craftily placed the black sesame and green tea on a higher pedastal. The sweet waft of the nutty black sesame lingers in the air. While it may take some suiting to, it is mellow, vanilla and light.

Oxidizing Black Cotton Swabs

In the land of the Rising Sun and gags, there are all kinds of things and their extravagant functions. Familiar paraphernalia in altered forms.


When your brain is dizzy enough and distended, imagine going to the toiletries section and happen to see more disconcerting things, like landmines everywhere in the little innocuous shop. Neatly rolled swabs of wool, normal cotton buds but all in black. Baa baa black sheep.

The non-colour black. How can it (buds) be black? The sterilized plastic stick, and the cotton tips itself. Search the ingredient list like some kind of informed consumer, it says Raw materials: Cotton, Axis (PP). Noting much given away, just that it is norm, 100% natural.


So raw and naturel are they, even in black. Come to think of it, it is as neutral and unaccented as it is, in white. Black is nothing if the cotton and axis were flaming red or something, then that would be something wrong. So how is their experience like, consuming them in black? That would be up to you to purchase them.

P.S. In that midnight-blue royal gossamer fibres, you just feel more pure looking at them, in black.

Giant and Rainbow, Pocky

Glico pocky engaging in the extreme- upsizing the size, and applying an applique similiar to the Rainbow Paint Brush and Rainbow Negg(?) in Neopia; ultimate chimera.

The ratio of the pretzels to cream is more favourable; the biscuit sturdy, and crunchy. They are perfect companions for the cream and gently savoury.


Red, orange, yellow, blue, green, violet, pink, simple. The coordinated flavours (and their colours). You can make it a 100% correct too.
But what about red, {what about the red}. Pink (should be) strawberry, so what is left for it.


Brain-racking or foil-tearing, it is the rudimentary chocolate. {Red, for original pocky}. With their thick and soft edges, they look like crayola in their larger-than life-tones.

P.S. The grape tastes like sucrose, mildly dilute, while the strawberry is richer like dairies and cream. The orange had the acrid edge of an orange's skin, intense and good, and the lemon is sweet, perky with lime aroma like pastille spray. The matcha tastes like candy, decorated with a little bit of that exotic grassy edge, and finally, the chocolate is rich, dark, velvety; epitome of a pocky chocolate. The outright one is the blueberry, so amorphous, tasting like icing, sweet yet not exactly.

P.S. So is everything inside (trying to break). Red M&M's, orange M&M's, yellow M&M's, turquiose gummy bears, blue slush, dark blue M&M's, violet (no, pink and white marshmallows) and added browns for a denser rainbow. The spectrum of flavours out of the normal ice-cream mine, there are some which are right for the amorphous (floating) taste buds of usthe gums, candyfloss, chocolate koala(?). Space-like, achingly-sweet, like.

Sometime last year there is this new movement in food art- the cake pop. A revolution out of the many tireless regurgitative recipes on cakes, cupcakes and chewy cookies. It's time we get something new on the market. Starbucks, as usual conserves online synchronization with the savvy with berry squares, soy-based drinks, and for about a few months now, a masquerade of miniature cakes strutting on a stick. A feel good factor when you are ordering solids also, from Starbucks. =p


Birthday Cake Pop and Chocolate Almond Cake Pop (SGD 4.90 for 2)

Birthday, to be perceived as "pink", for some reason, and the chocolate something more sophisticated for the grown-ups.

P.S. They are sweet, gooey, entangled in a coat of frost and an-almost homogenous mixture within which is yet cosmic yellow and crumbly reminiscent of a pound cake. Don't know how to eat it? It's like a new decorum in a new country.
