You've been Smart this Christmas- pink smarties exclusive

Sunny

Nestle has chosen a special shade for this winter- there will only be pink Smarties in this tube.

No more pot luck assortment of colour from undetermining gay candies. Pink makes you think about this precursor of M&Ms; and them being shadowed, was there even a pink Smarties/what colours were Smarties anyway?

Nestle Pink Smarties Giant Tube

The sugar shells are a dusty rosette pink, and the chocolate inside is overtly dairy. Like thick milkshake.

P.S. Pink, the more appropriate colour (for this season), because it is(red plus white).

Pink car on the road

Light rain

Eat (pink), dig in the pink.

P.S. So signature because it is the (Kitty), for {all} stuff pink. Have seen one [pink] for a kid's amusement ride?

Merrim(e)nt mint - Sundae @ Swensen's

Stormy

Naive days without sin and guilt, climbing over Coit Tower and likes, devouring an entire summit in one seating, when one is hardly grown-up and pint-sized- wondering how can the whole tower go into one's stomach. Swensens' left the mark as the place for sundaes (towers); ice-cream dessert since time immemorial.

This year, it is suiting that it comes in a jingle of the 12 Sundaes of Christmas, a spread of 12 specially concocted sundaes for the season.
The epitome of the Swensen's- sundae, in a print-clash with the epitome of winter gingerbread man.

Merri-Mint Macaroon (SGD 10.90)

Two crisp macaroons sandwiching gummy marshmallows inside. It is Pink Mint Frost and Thin Mint ice cream cushioning the sundae. The thin mint ice cream is smooth and icy, accomplished as a Swensen's flavour. Towards the end of the light and tantalising dessert, it gets white and ambiguous down the bowl, slaps of sticky stretchy marshmallow pools. It is inventive, multi-faceted on the tongue whilst good to eat.

Still don't believe me, what's Pink Mint Frost(?). Pink for overthrowing the notion of mint/mint in the image of our hearts. And the taste any deviating from a green mint(?). It is a registered new flavour for Swensen's, up for us to order whether colour plays a role in the perceptional flavour of mint.

Tin Roof Sleigh Ride, Merri-Mint Macaroon, Tinsel Castle, Frosty Knickerbocker, Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Twinkle, more to find out about the 12 Sundaes of Christmas and what goes in its content of ingredients.

P.S. Merri-Mint Macaroon. 8. 8 maids a milking, the beatitude upon us.

Pandan Pau, at Pulau

Night

A good assortment of baked goods, for a good year already.

Pandan Pau (SGD 0.70)

Bluer green on the outside, it is smagaradite inside! The green oddish-looking paste is nothing but the familiar scent of lotus paste, with no inch of pandan flavour. The skin too, springy and only slightly sweet from the sucrase generated between your molars.

P.S. After you leave it, (somehow, bizarrely), your fingers stain of a pandan fragrance.

Match (a) flavour- Off-peak chasoba at Ichiban Boshi

Cloudy

Contemporary culture sets for meals, green noodle also come with a set here, assimilating the bento set.

Kurobuta Kimchi Chasoba (SGD 5.00)

A set of chasoba containing the mains, sides grilled rice ball and hot green tea.

Yasai Kakiage Chasoba (SGD 5.00)

Such a rare thing (noodle, green noodle set), it only surfaces in off-peak hours- 3:00pm-5:30pm. The kurobuta and kakiage are all well-marinated and achieved, and the (cha)soba is delicious and thicker than usual, with none of the green tea taste. The riceball is also a must try; flavourful, with soft rice grains, you can savour them just as sushi.

P.S. Chasoba is no longer a steel rule, it can become lively when featured as the main of a set menu. 5 kinds of green noodles for you to choose, the warm claypot noodle Pirikara Nabeyaki, the traditional Niku sliced beef noodle, the cold noodle with tempura, the cold noodle Hiyashi dish. Good things short lived; off peak.

Sundae on a sunday- Mcdonalds Double Lime with nata de coco

Night

After the storm with the monopoly, Mcdonalds also (finally) came up with a new constitution of the sundae- the double. Double chocolate chip in chocolate the main and chocolate the chip, double cheeseburger in double the cheese, double lime= what double?

Double Lime Sundae (SGD 2.20)

It is not the double way of chocolate, or with 2 lime rings; but rather, the double of burgers. Twice the size, hungry, i'm lovin' eat. Looking slime-like like monsters, it is actually the comforting, dear taste of yester-year- lime popsicle with vanilla ice-cream inside, remember?

The volume of it is actually the small cup of orange juice, or coke. Upon first taste, its fragrance's detergent, then after-taste, it is the mellow flavour of lime popsicles and vanilla.

P.S. After dissemination of the green apple pie in package, the Mcdonald's Sweet 'N Sour Sauce is also green(lime)! High fructose corn syrup, water, apricot puree concentration, peach puree concentration, distilled vinegar, soy sauce, sodium benzoate; food reading has never been so exciting.

Organic Green pea sprouts at Ajisen Ramen

Fine

The notice at Ajisen Ramen has become very eye-catching, with bold green fonts encircling a new kind of product it is promoting- the organic pea sprouts.

(Organic) pea sprouts may have also sprouted on chinese menus, the grassy, weedy stalks stir-fried over rice dishes. In japanese cuisine they are trusty-mates to japanese burgers like lettuce in burgers. Pea sprouts/shoots are low in calories with folic acid and vitamins A and C you need for the day.

Organic Pea Sprouts (SGD 3.90)

The simple idea of tossed vegetables, green and honest. Possibly organic, they taste crisp and sweeter, and simple heaven cooked with bits of fragrant garlic. Its good that you can dunk it over japanese rice and wolf down.

Mango Mayo Ebi and Wasabi Mayo Ebi (SGD 5.90 ea)

Completing the meal is new test-out dishes from Ajisen Ramen, mayonnaise ebi (prawn)- Curry Mayo Ebi, Mango Mayo Ebi and Wasabi Mayo Ebi. Fire-engine funky colours of an ebi's palette. The wasabi mayo ebi is pale green in colour, and sweet and addictive a harmonious blend to the savoury ebi.

P.S. The mango mayo ebi tasted like lychee fruit (canned?). It was like jam on a crisp fried prawn. The ebi was battered the "'beer batter' fish" way. Close-to-the-heart home-made dishes in a japanese restaurant, every small portion more surreal that they come in their variety of green.

Hello- Panda in the udon

Rainy

The eye-popping thing about udon is their fishcakes. The pink and white (circles) of them.(?) Now it is the pink (black) of the panda and the white of the panda.

Plain Udon (SGD 2.50)

Udon $2.00+? You can only find udon sold like this here.

P.S. Are these japanese noodles any good? The fishcake has a deep seafood flavour, something like the favourite thin shredded scallop cake, and not fishcake or crabmeat.

By the plate- @ Sakae Sushi

Sunny

Aftermath of our meal from Sakae Sushi, we managed to get one plate of every colour. Or rather, it is "working backwards". Not like japanese or english restaurants where diners eat whatever that is 'planned' for them on the menu, but by intuition, whatever comes and you take that on its colour plate until every colour has a copy.

Take what; comes may, the challenge. Retrieving it from the selection as long as it is a new colour of a plate. What which came to us was red, avocado unagi; yellow, kakiage (vegetable tempura); green, chuka kurage; turquiose, egg mayo; blue, tamago; indigo, salmon nigiri; pink,- the black ebikko inari(!); purple, california maki; and black, chawanmushi.

Colour Plate (SGD 2.99)

So halfway through (counting (the colours)) there is also black. Black ebikko (probably through the staining of squid ink) laid on a bed of rice in beancurd pouch. The ebikko was almost negligible; but extremely hardy and crunchy, so it should be prawn and not salmon or flying fish roe.

Strawberry Mousse Cake and Green Tea Chocolate Cake (SGD 5.99 ea)

Through the colour-(picking) there is also new dessert on the menu. Mousse cake, a non-spongey waxy texture more like set yoghurt. The green tea had an ashy flavour to it, and slushy ice-cream inside. Both cakes have a sponge cake base at the bottom of the dome, flourry and firm.

P.S. The rainbow of colours to designate the sushi in the belt. Red, premium plate, availability and exotic ingredients; green, wet gunkan sushi; turquoise, dry gunkan sushi; blue, nigiri sushi; pink, premium creative plate; black, special a la carte like chawanmushi and cha soba. There is also the yellow plate. It is the more exclusive premium plate.
